Health Benefits of Coconut      Water There are all kinds of  enhanced waters  these days, but coconut water was the OG "healthy water." The liquid quickly became a staple everywhere from health food stores to fitness studios but it's sweet, nutty taste isn't for everyone. Do the nutrition facts back up the hype? Here's what you need to know. What exactly is in coconut water? W ell, it's pretty straightforward: Coconut water is the clear liquid inside coconuts. You'd typically get coconut water from young, green coconuts—those harvested at five to seven months of age, explains Josh Axe, D.N.M., C.N.S., D.C., founder of Ancient Nutrition—versus older, browner coconuts, which are a better source of coconut milk. What is a coronavirus? Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that cause disease in animals. Seven, including the new virus, have made the jump to humans, but most just cause cold-like symptoms. Two other coronaviruses – Middle East respiratory syndrome (Mers) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) – are much more severe, having killed more than 1,500 people between them since 2002. The new virus, officially called Covid-19, is also dangerous - so far, around 20 per cent of confirmed cases have been classed as severe or critical. So far, around 15 to 20 per cent of hospital cases have been classed as "severe" and the current death rate varies between 0.7 per cent and 3.4 per cent depending on the location and, crucially, access to good hospital care. This is much lower than fatality rates for Mers (30 per cent) and Sars (10 per cent), but still a significant threat. Scientists in China believe that Covid-19 has mutated into two strains, one more aggressive th

He's a research scientist in nutrition at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. Of course, no one food will protect you from disease. Your health is wrapped up in your lifestyle and your genes, so even if you drink green tea all day long, you also need to take care of yourself in other ways, like not smoking, being active, and eating a healthy diet. Green tea’s biggest benefit? "It's all about the catechin content," says Beth Reardon, RD, a Boston nutritionist. Catechins are   antioxidants   that fight and may even prevent cell damage. Green tea is not processed much before it's poured in your cup, so it's rich in catechins. What the Research Shows Green tea has been shown to improve blood flow and lower cholesterol. A

It’s rich in polyphenols that help lower blood pressure and prevent clogging of arteries. It contains compounds called punicalagins that are excellent in treating heart problems. They’re also beneficial to the brain. The phytochemicals in this fruit juice restrict the growth of aromatase, a major enzyme that contributes to the growth of breast cancer. The juice also helps minimize inflammation. Studies have also shown that it stimulates estrogen and serotonin receptors. Being an excellent source of vitamin C, it helps enhance the immune system. It provides folate, which is good for blood cell production, heart health, and protection against a birth defect known as spina bifida. Orange juice also keeps the skin healthy. Some brands of orange juice are fortified with vitamin D and calcium, giving the added advantage of bone health protection. In general, orange juice can make a perfect healthy snack because it has lower calorie content than many other fruit juices.
